The Homemaker’s Mentor – A Review and GIVEAWAY

HomeMaker_sMentor

I was recently chosen to take part in the launch team for an excellent new resource called the Homemaker’s Mentor. This CD-Rom is packed full of a wide assortment of homemaking skills, ideas, and tutorials that can benefit anyone wanting to learn or improve various homemaking skills.

Included in The Homemaker’s Mentor is a huge collection of over 100 PDFs, covering everything from needlepoint crafts, to baking, cleaning and organization tips, various crafts for the home, and home remedies. The best part, in my opinion, is the fact that many of the tutorials are easy to do with children, so parents can easily pass on these wonderful skills to the next generation of homemakers. Mothers of boys, fear not! This CD also has plenty of activities that will be of interest to our guys, such as making a homemade oven out of apple boxes, baking all sorts of sweets, gardening, (what boy doesn’t like digging in the dirt?) making hand-dipped candles, and much more!

Like me, my children love to cook. The guys are actually rather good at following a recipe. So, it makes sense that one of our favorite books in this collection is When Mother Lets Us Cook.ย  This book is full of simple, easy-to-follow recipes and little tips to help get beginning cooks up and going. The text itself came from a 1908 book, so some of the items or terminology might not be familiar, but the presentation ofย  techniques and tips is just darling, and the collection is still a nice assortment for young cooks.

Little M (10) had a great time making his own “Rainy-Day Chocolate Fudge” from When Mother Lets Us Cook.

Big G (11) decided to make a dinner recipe from a different collection, the “Breaded Italian Chicken” from one of the Marvelous Menus files.

I added my “Marmee’s Herbed Pull-Apart Bread” from one of the Simple Suppers files, and we had one awesome meal!

There are MANY other recipes throughout the collection, and, since cooking is something we always enjoy together, we decided to focus mainly on those for the purpose of review. But don’t think this collection is all just recipes. There are SO MANY other valuable resources on this CD-Rom, that I couldn’t possibly begin to list them all. Suffice it to say, I plan on keeping busy with these wonderful skills for quite a while.

So, where do you get it? The Homemaker’s Mentor is available HERE.ย  Regularly $47, the CD-Rom is available now til October 18th for $37 plus free shipping!
