After a long week of testing, we decided to take a week off. We’ll call it a late spring break. We needed time to refocus, and as a bonus, it gave me a chance to start planning for next year. (We do homeschool year round, but there is a sense of semesters and school years nonetheless.)
Over the summer, we are going to be working on science and math. The boys will be finishing their current level of Teaching Textbooks, this being their second level completed in a year. For science, we are going to be working on Exploring Ceation with Anatomy & Physiology with some of our new homeschool friends. Other than that, it’s probably just going to be a lot of reading and literature studies in a fun, laid back approach. The boys worked hard this year, so they deserve a bit of a break.
For next year, our definite choices of curriculum are:
Big G (6th grade)
Science – Apologia General Science
Math – Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra
Little M (5th grade)
Science – Exploring Creation with Chemistry & Physics AND Exploring Creation with Zoology 2
Math – Teaching Textbooks 7
Together
History – Notgrass America the Beautiful
Literature – continuing our own study of Tolkien (if not completed over the summer) as well as accompanying lit to history course
Foreign Language – Biblical Hebrew & possibly beginning a modern language
Writing – Write With The Best
Spelling – Spelling Wisdom
I am still on the lookout for a good grammar program. I am considering Winston Grammar, but still undecided. Here’s hoping for another great year.
